Fans Of All Ages

I'm finding that my fans come in a big range of ages.  So far Madisun is my youngest fan.  I have readers, men and women, young and older., who are fans of the book

Julee is one of my biggest fans - she certainly has spread the word about my book.

Besides being a fan of my book - Julee is a good friend.  We went through part of our grade school years together.  Her family moved to Sitka when we were both in 5th grade, the time just after my book ends.  She was there for 5th, 6th and part of the 7th grade.  We lived just down the street from each other, and we went to Girl Scout meetings together.

Then her father was transferred by the Coast Guard to California and then later back to Ketchikan, Alaska, where Julee graduated from high school.

We had no contact once Julee left Sitka in the 7th grade - and then Facebook happened.  A couple of years ago Julee recognized my name in posts with other classmates from Sitka, and she contacted me, asking if my mother had been the Girl Scout leader.   Sure enough, and Julee was now living about 35 miles south of us - in  Sedro Woolley, WA.  We chatted on Facebook and decided it was time to meet up again - so we set a time - lunch at the mall in Bellingham, because she came up here for a doctor's appointment and she at least knew how to get to the mall.

We went to Ivar's Seafood for lunch - if you are from the Pacific Northwest you KNOW Ivar's - best clam chowder in the world.  We talked - and talked - our lunches long over, and we realized that we had been talking for four hours - time flies when you're having fun.

Our friendship has grown since then, we often go out to breakfast with Julee and Tony - or to thrift shops and then lunch, and Julee and I get together just about every Wednesday to do crafts together.  She is a very talented artist and almost always she is sketching something wonderful when we get together.  You can see her work at  HERE in her Etsy shop.

Not only did Julee enjoy reading my book - but she has bought 8 or  10 copies of the book to give to friends and families - she's a super fan!!!

Thank you Julee, for friendship and for promoting my book.  Everyone needs a fan like this!!!

A Young Fan

I had the privilege of meeting a young fan this past week.  She is visiting her grandparents in Washington for a month.  Last year when she visited she had read her grandmother's copy of my book "Are We Walking To Alaska?" and her grandmother reported that she loved the book and wanted to meet me.  So this year we had a chance to meet and talk.

I always carry some copies of my book with me - and I autographed one for Madisun so she could have her very own copy.

She is a delightful young lady, 11 years old, and we had a nice chat.  She told me that she's been reading for a long time, and she even read all the Harry Potter books in third grade - now that's a dedicated reader.

It is always wonderful to meet a fan - especially a young one, who really enjoys reading.  Thank you Madisun, for reading my book.

I'd love to have photos of other readers - so get someone to take a picture of you with my book - we can start a fan page - that would be lots of fun.

Happy Reading!!
